measuring guide

In order for you to have the best fit possible, I need proper measurements from you!
To start, I will only need the first 3 measurements along with your height from you to get an idea of your shape.  After that I will ask for more specific measurements based on your costume.

Please remember:

  • It is best to have someone measure you, rather than trying to do it yourself.

  • When measuring, do not have the tape too loose or too tight.  Wrap it around the parts so it is snug.

  • Do not hold your stomach in.

  • Don't slouch.   Stand up straight, but don't over-extend yourself.

  • Relax.  This is fun!  :D

  • Make sure the horizontal measurements are parallel with the floor.

  • I may ask for other measurements not listed here.

  • If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

You need flexible measuring tape and string or yarn.  Before you start, tie a piece of string around your natural waist-line (that is the smallest part of your waist).  Also, tie a string around each shoulder and under your arm (refer to orange lines), the armscye (arm-sai).  These strings will be your guide for some of the other measurements.
Excuse the drawings, I tried. >D;

0.  Height: Stand up straight and measure from the very top of your head to the floor.  An easier way is to make a mark on the wall and measure down to there.
  1. Chest/Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest.
  2. Waist: Measure around the smallest part of your waist.
  3. Hips: Measure around the largest part of your hips
  4. Center Front: Measure from the center of your collar bone to the middle of your waist.
  5. Neck: Measure around the thickest part of of your neck going into the body.
  6. Front Width: Start from the armscye, where the string goes under your arms.  Measure from there across to the other armscye.

  7. Bust Point to Bust Point: (Females only) Measure from nipple to nipple! ;)

  8. Under bust: Measure around under bust/chest.

  9. Neck to Shoulder Width: Measure from the base of your neck (under ear lobe) to the top of the armscye.

  10. Center Shoulder to Bust Point: (Female only)Divide the neck/shoulder width in half and start from that point.  Measure to the bust point.

  11. Front Shoulder Slope: Measure from the top of the armscye across the bust to the middle of your waist.
  12. Back Width: The same as the Front Width, measure from armscye to armscye, where the string begins to go under your arms.
  13. Center Back: Measure from the base of your neck (where the bone protrudes when you lean your head down) to the center waist.
  14. Back Shoulder Slope: Measure from top of armscye to center waist.
  15. Armscye: Measure around your shoulder (just before it begins to curve) under your arm.
  16. Arm Length: Measure from top of the shoulder, around elbow, to your wrist, having arm slightly bent.

  17. Bicep: Measure around the fullest part of your bicep.

  18. Forearm: Measure around the fullest part of your forearm.

  19. Wrist: Measure around your wrist.

  20. Crotch: Measure from center front waist under crotch and up to center back waist.

  21. Crotch Depth: Sit up straight in a chair or on the floor.  Measure your side from the waist to the floor/seat of the chair.

  22. Knee Depth: From the back, measure from waist to the crease in your knee.

  23. Thigh: Measure around the fullest part of your thigh.

  24. Calf: Measure around the fullest part of your calf.

  25. Inseam: Measure from your crotch, along the inside of you leg, to the floor.

  26. Outseam: Measure from side waist, along the outside of your leg to the floor.

  27. Crown: Measure around your head, as where you would wear a hat.
